Valpo Parks Foundation Announces 2026 Friends and Legends Honorees

The Valpo Parks Foundation says the public is invited to celebrate community generosity, leadership, and legacy at the annual Friends & Legends Ceremony on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The free event will take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Butterfield Family Pavilion. The Friends & Legends Ceremony recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations who support Valparaiso Parks through their time, talent, and treasures, a news release said, and this year the Foundation says it will be honoring:
• Phil Ross will receive the Community Champion Award.
• Valparaiso Sunrise Kiwanis Club will accept the John Seibert Service Award.
• Linda Eyermann will be presented with the Art & Irene Malasto Legend Award.
“We are thrilled to celebrate these local legends who have shaped the lasting legacy of our parks,” said Foundation President Tim VerSchure. “Their dedication ensures our community remains a vibrant place to live, play, and grow.” The evening is free to attend and open to the public. Guests will enjoy complimentary food, and a cash bar will be available. While pre-registration is highly preferred to assist organizers with an accurate headcount for catering, walk-ins are welcome.
