In Lake County, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces ramp, lane and shoulder closures for the Interstate 80/94 and State Road 912/Cline Avenue interchange for multiple projects starting next week.
The ramp from northbound State Road 912/Cline Avenue to westbound I-80/94 will close on or after Monday, July 27, 2026 through mid-September for bridge deck overlays over the Little Calumet River and I-80/94.
The ramp from southbound State Road 912/Cline Avenue to westbound I-80/94 will also close on or after Monday, July 27, 2026 through mid-August 2026 for pavement improvements as part of the 80/94 FlexRoad project. A related shoulder closure will be in place on westbound 80/94 in this area.
The detour for both ramp closures will direct drivers to eastbound I-80/94 and utilize the ramps at Burr Street to turn around to access westbound I-80/94.
The left lane and shoulder will be closed on the ramps from northbound State Road 912/Cline Avenue to eastbound I-80/94 and westbound I-80/94 to northbound State Road 912/Cline Avenue on or after Monday, July 27, 2026 through the end of August. This is the first phase of bridge deck overlay projects for these two ramps, which will be ongoing through the end of September 2026. Overnight lane closures will be conducted on I-94 from Tuesday, July 28, 2026 through Friday, July 31, 2026 during the hours of 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. in this area to install temporary barrier walls for ongoing outside shoulder closures.
The ramps from I-80/94 eastbound and westbound to State Road 912 southbound remain closed through mid-August 2026 for a bridge deck overlay over the Little Calumet River. The official detour is to exit I-80/94 to State Road 912 northbound and use the ramps at the U.S. 20/12 interchange to turn around to State Road 912 southbound.
“INDOT encourages drivers to allow extra time when traveling through this area and follow traffic directions carefully. Motorists should slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones,” a news release from INDOT said.
